What Is North Texas Giving Day?
North Texas Giving Day is an annual fundraising effort organized by Communities Foundation of Texas.
Now in its 18th year, the event connects donors with organizations working throughout North Texas in areas including education, health, social services, arts and culture, environmental causes, animal welfare and more.
And this isn't a small fundraiser.
In 2025, more than 100,000 North Texans donated $78 million to more than 3,500 local nonprofits.
Since North Texas Giving Day began, the effort has raised approximately $712 million for organizations serving communities across the region.

More Than 3,600 Nonprofits Are Participating in 2026
Organizers say more than 3,600 nonprofits are participating in North Texas Giving Day this year.
That means there’s a pretty good chance you can find an organization connected to something you care about.
The North Texas Giving Day website lets you search participating organizations and filter them by location and cause. Current categories span more than 25 different cause areas across 20 North Texas counties.
So whether you want to help:
- local animal shelters
- food banks
- schools and education programs
- arts organizations
- veterans
- children and families
- health organizations
- environmental groups
- community programs
- or dozens of other causes
…you can narrow the list down to organizations working in the communities and areas that matter to you.
Early Giving Is Open Now
Although the official North Texas Giving Day is September 17, participating nonprofits are already accepting early donations.
Several participating organizations list August 27 as the beginning of the early-giving period, with donations continuing through Giving Day.
That means there’s no reason to wait until September 17 if you already know where you want your money to go.
Some organizations also have matching-gift campaigns, which can make a donation worth even more. Those opportunities vary by nonprofit, so check the individual organization page before donating.
Where Does Your Donation Go?
Here’s one particularly nice part of the program.
Communities Foundation of Texas says sponsors cover the platform’s transaction and technology fees, allowing 100% of donations made through NorthTexasGivingDay.org to go to the selected nonprofits.
That applies to participating organizations throughout the North Texas Giving Day network.
You Don’t Have to Donate to Get Involved
Money isn't the only way to participate.
The North Texas Giving Day website also includes a searchable Get Involved section with volunteer opportunities and events offered by participating nonprofits. You can filter opportunities by location, format and timeframe.
That can be useful if you want to support an organization but would rather give your time.
How to Participate in North Texas Giving Day 2026

One Day, A Lot of North Texas
What makes North Texas Giving Day different from a fundraiser centered on one city is just how far it reaches.
Organizations participating in the program serve communities throughout 20 North Texas counties, so the impact stretches well beyond Dallas or Fort Worth.
Last year, more than 100,000 people collectively put $78 million back into local nonprofits.
On September 17, North Texas gets another chance to do it again.
