Drake Just Put His Spin on Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas' — Is a Remix Coming?
One of the biggest songs of 2026 may be getting an unexpected new voice.
Drake appears to have recorded his own version of Ella Langley's massive hit "Choosin' Texas." The rapper previewed part of the unreleased track during a recent DJ set in Toronto, immediately fueling speculation that an official remix could be on the way.
For a song called "Choosin' Texas," adding Drake might not have been on anyone's bingo card.
Then again, maybe we should have seen this coming.
Drake Has Been Really Into 'Choosin' Texas'
Drake hasn't exactly kept his appreciation for Ella Langley a secret.
Earlier this summer, he played "Choosin' Texas" while DJing at a club in Houston. He later praised Langley's songwriting on social media, calling her pen "goated."
Then things got even more interesting.
On August 22, Drake showed up at Langley's sold-out concert in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Videos from the show captured him dancing and singing along as she performed "Choosin' Texas." Langley and Drake were also photographed together backstage after the concert.
Now comes the biggest hint yet.
During a DJ set in Toronto, Drake played what appears to be a new version of "Choosin' Texas" featuring his own vocals.
Neither Drake nor Langley has officially announced a collaboration, and there's currently no confirmed release date.
The Song Really Did Choose Texas
If there's one song that doesn't need much help getting people's attention, it's this one.
"Choosin' Texas" has spent 19 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it one of the biggest crossover records of the year.
And North Texas has already been part of the story.
Langley's Dandelion Tour included a sold-out stop in Fort Worth, one of several Texas dates that caught Drake's attention earlier this year.
The song itself also comes with some serious Texas credentials. Langley co-wrote it with Miranda Lambert, along with Luke Dick and JoyBeth Taylor.
Lambert's Texas connection needs little introduction. She grew up in Lindale, about 90 miles east of Dallas, before becoming one of country's biggest stars.
Country Meets Drake?
Drake jumping onto one of the year's biggest country songs would certainly get people talking, but genre-hopping isn't exactly unusual anymore.
Country, pop and hip-hop have increasingly crossed paths on the charts, and "Choosin' Texas" was already a massive crossover hit before Drake entered the picture.
The bigger question may be what happens if this version actually gets released.
With the original already spending 19 weeks at No. 1, a high-profile Drake remix could introduce the song to another audience—and potentially give an already enormous hit another boost.
For now, though, it's still a tease.
No release date. No official announcement. Just Drake, one of 2026's biggest songs and a whole lot of speculation.
But if this remix does drop, don't be surprised if everybody is choosin' Texas all over again.
