Autumn at the Arboretum Paints Dallas in “Harvest Hues”
Fall in North Texas may not always arrive with sweater weather, but the Dallas Arboretum is bringing the colors of the season to life with more than 100,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash.
Autumn at the Arboretum returns September 19 through November 1 with “Harvest Hues,” a new theme that turns the popular Pumpkin Village into an outdoor celebration of modern and contemporary art.
Six larger-than-life Pumpkin Houses will draw inspiration from artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Mark Rothko, Louise Bourgeois, Piet Mondrian, M.C. Escher and Jackson Pollock. Visitors can expect everything from Mondrian-style blocks of bright primary colors to a towering spider inspired by Bourgeois and Pollock’s energetic splashes reimagined with pumpkins and gourds.

The display gives families plenty of photo opportunities, but there is more happening throughout the garden. Seasonal programming includes hands-on activities, special classes and STEM-focused experiences inside the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden.
Several limited-time events are also planned during the festival. Pumpkins and Pints offers an adults-only evening in the garden on October 2.
A Pumpkin and Squash Show and Sale runs October 16 through 18, while a sensory-friendly evening on October 20 provides a quieter experience and special access to Pumpkin Village.

Autumn at the Arboretum will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, located at 8525 Garland Road in East Dallas.
Admission is required, and some classes or special events may require separate registration. Tickets and the complete event schedule are available through the Dallas Arboretum.
