Taylor Sheridan Kicks Off the Homestand

The series opener on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., and fans will get a little Hollywood with their baseball.

Taylor Sheridan, the Texas-connected creator of Yellowstone and Landman, is set to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Singer-songwriter and former American Idol contestant Marissa Luna will perform the national anthem.

Rangers Celebrate the 1996 Division Championship Team

The biggest theme of the weekend is a celebration of the 1996 Texas Rangers, the first team in franchise history to win a division title and reach the postseason.

About 30 former players, coaches and executives are expected to return to Arlington, including Rangers Hall of Famers Rusty Greer, Iván Rodríguez and Jeff Russell.

The celebration begins Friday with a special anniversary luncheon at Live! by Loews Arlington from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event includes a panel discussion with members of the 1996 team and a display of Rangers memorabilia.

Friday night’s game will also feature a ceremonial first pitch from Dude Perfect, while the first 10,000 fans will receive a Block Captain Bobblehead. The Rangers’ 2023 World Series Commissioner’s Trophy will also be available for fan photos near Section 117.

Saturday Brings Another Throwback Giveaway

The nostalgia continues Saturday, when the first 10,000 fans will receive a 1996 Rangers Team Button-Down.

The returning members of the ’96 team will also be recognized during a pregame ceremony, with former pitcher Ken Hill scheduled to throw a ceremonial first pitch to Iván Rodríguez.

Down Syndrome Awareness Day Wraps Up the Weekend

The homestand closes Sunday with the Rangers’ annual Down Syndrome Awareness Day.

Fans who purchase specialty tickets can receive a limited-edition Down Syndrome is Cool cap. The Burger Family Foundation, created by Rangers first baseman Jake Burger and his wife Ashlyn, will also operate a merchandise pop-up near Section 142.

The Rangers host the Washington Nationals from August 18 through August 20, followed by the Los Angeles Angels from August 21 through August 23 at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

For fans across Dallas-Fort Worth, it’s a busy week at the ballpark — with giveaways, throwback celebrations and special events packed into all six games.
