The Otsukimi Japanese Moon Viewing Festival returns to Haggard Park in Downtown Plano on Saturday, September 26, with an evening of live performances, food, shopping and activities for families. The festival runs from 6 to 10 p.m., and admission is free.

Before You Go

When: Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 6–10 p.m.
Where: Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th St., Plano
Admission: Free. Reserve a free ticket if you’d like festival updates and a chance to win a prize.
Getting there: The DART Red Line stops at Downtown Plano Station next to Haggard Park. The organizers suggest parking at Parker Road Station and taking the train one stop.

This year’s special guest is Emi Lo, the English voice of Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries. Her anime program is scheduled for about 8:50 p.m. and includes a presentation, an episode screening and a live audience Q&A. The separate, limited autograph and photo opportunity is sold out.

There’s plenty happening before that. The performance schedule includes taiko drumming, sumo wrestling demonstrations, Japanese dance, a concert featuring music from Studio Ghibli films and a live J-pop performance by Sallad. Families can also explore hands-on cultural activities and children’s games.

Come hungry: 13 food vendors are expected, serving options that include takoyaki, Japanese-style cream puffs, Korean BBQ and bubble tea. Food costs extra. To buy from participating vendors, guests first purchase food tickets at the festival’s central Food & Drink Ticket Tent. Cash, credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted there.

Take the DART Red Line to the Festival

The Red Live operates every 20 minutes on weekends. Park for FREE at Parker Road Station, 2600 Archerwood St., Plano, purchased a day pass, and take the three-minute ride to Downtown Plano Station - the first stop. You'll arrive right at Haggard Park. Return services runs until midnight.

Otsukimi means “moon viewing.” The Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth brings the Japanese autumn tradition to North Texas with a night built around food, performances and time together outdoors.

Chairs and blankets are welcome. Leave outside food, alcohol and coolers at home. Check the festival’s official schedule before heading out in case performance times change.
